Who Answers?

Each month, In the Rooms and Seeking Integrity Treatment Centers present an online Super Saturday Recovery Summit. These events have proven to be an overwhelming success, with three experts on recovery discussing and answering questions on topics related to both early and longer-term sobriety and healing.

Our next Super Saturday Recovery Summit is set for Saturday, November 21st. Presenters at this month’s summit include Kelley Gunter, Dr. Stephen Dansiger, and Ken Page.

Kelley Gunter, 1 p.m. Eastern
Fast Weight Fix: Weight Loss Surgery & Cross-Addiction – Tipping the Scales in Your Favor

Kelley Gunter has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in counseling. Following a lengthy career in social services, she began writing full-time. Her first book, You Have Such a Pretty Face, details the emotional journey of being obese and the surprising changes brought on by her 243-pound weight loss, as well as the emotional factors (including childhood abuse) that contributed to her initial weight gain. She is currently in the process of writing her second memoir, The Homecoming Queen of Crazy Town. In this Super Saturday session, Kelley will discuss weight loss surgery and its impact on and interaction with addiction.

Dr. Stephen Dansiger, 3 p.m. Eastern
Mindfulness, Anger Management, and Long-Term Recovery

Dr. Stephen Dansiger started his adult life as a rock and roll drummer, playing clubs like CBGB and Max’s Kansas City in the late 70s. He got into recovery in the 80s. These days, he is a consultant, trainer, clinician, writer (author of five books), and meditation teacher. In his SSRS presentation, he will discuss anger management and its role in 12 Step recovery, as well as a number of other recovery models for a variety of difficulties. He will also talk about how Mindfulness can provide the foundation for managing anger and other strong emotions, providing the support necessary for sustainable long-term recovery.

Ken Page, 5 p.m. Eastern
Intimacy, Sobriety, and the Search for Real Love

Ken Page LCSW is a renowned psychotherapist, blogger, podcaster, and the author of Deeper Dating: How to Drop the Games of Seduction and Discover the Power of Intimacy. He has led hundreds of workshops on intimacy and spirituality for thousands of participants. Ken founded Deeper Dating in 2004 as an event platform in which trained facilitators speak on sexuality, intimacy, and spirituality in the world of dating and then lead participants in a series of fun and enriching exercises. He also leads live events that provide an alternative to the bar scene and superficial dating events. In his Super Saturday presentation, he will discuss the ups and downs of dating while in recovery.
