i would not be sober today if i hadnt humbled myself and put forth the willingness to try to gain a sense of humility. recovery helped me get a start learnin how to use humility to help me become the person i am today. with step one i had to start bein honest with others so i could start bein honest with myself and vice versa. when i learned to stop lyin to myself the door toward humility opened. my history prior to recovery showed me that i couldnt stay sober by my own means. learnin this fact, it was easy to put honesty to work in understandin that i needed the help of others and God. this was a start toward usin humility. i found the more honest i became with myself about the conditions of my life, the more open i became to acceptin what i had become and seekin the help i needed. ive said it before and still believe today that when i first came in i didnt know if recovery would work for me or if i would be able to stay sober long. but as i used the simple spiritual principle of honesty, humility grew within. gainin the understandin that my past behaviors and attitudes were negative and destructive, change from the hopelessness of dependency, isolation, anger, and depression became a goal. henceforth, humility continued to creep in. still today the evolution of humility is growin within. in the daily changes i still get to discover the stability humility offers. as i continue to share my experiences, i get to learn from others how theyve grown and used humility. this not only helps me, but others too. we get to let loose the problems that weigh on our minds, becomin even more open to honesty and humility. givin up center stage has helped relieve me of the core behavioral, emotional, psychological, and spiritual problems i carried that got in the way of humility. the shortcomins i used to have are becomin assets and the startin points of strength and other advantages recovery offers. 1 day @ a time...
