when i breakdown the serenity prayer i get an in depth meanin: more than just the meanin of acceptance, courage, and wisdom. startin with the 1st word “God”, i use humility to get a sense that there is a bein in my life far greater than i, my HP. when i say “grant,” im admittin that this HP is an authority who can bestow and give. when i say, “me,” im unselfishly askin somethin for myself. its understood that if ask, i shall receive it, if i work toward it. its not wrong to ask for betterment of myself; for with improvement of my character, people around me will be made happier. when i say, “serenity,” im askin for calmness, composure, and peace of mind in my life which will enable me to think with clarity, so i may govern myself appropriately & properly. when i ask, “to accept,” im resignin myself to conditions as they are in this moment. when i mention, “the things i cant control,” im acceptin my lot in my life as it is. until ive the courage to change any part of my life i dont like, i must accept it and not with resentment. when i say, “courage,” im askin for a quality of spirit, with His help, to face conditions without balkin. when i mention, “to change,” im askin for my inner condition and thought to be different. when i say, “things i can,” im askin for help to make the right decisions. acknowledgin everythin isnt perfect in my life. i must continue to face reality and consistently work toward continued growth and progress with perseverance. when i say, “wisdom,” im askin for the ability to form sound judgement in any and all matters. when i say, “to know,” i want to be able to clearly understand truths of fact. facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored. and when i say, “the difference,” i want to see things differently in my life so there may be some distinction. i need to sense a definite value in love over self-centeredness. with a simple breakdown of this prayer for all seasons, i get to live each moment of each day i may come into conflict with, always aware, with a sense of freedom, happiness, and joy. 1 day @ a time...
