it doesnt matter to me if others know im in recovery or not. if they want to judge me a bad person for puttin a cripplin disease in remission and practicin a spiritual program of recovery im cool with it. i reckon in some instances it may hinder me from movin forward in my life, and it has in my experience, but overall, it really doesnt matter much to those who havent had personal experience with alcoholism or addiction. i can only think back to the times i harmed others while out doin my dirt. i do wonder if they had known me then would they think differently. beside, i cant spend too much time on those thoughts as ive healed from those times and dont live that lifestyle any longer. early in my recovery my sponsor warned me of the hazards of publicity. he told me 2 things, that bein a member of this recovery program may cause me harm; he told me that if i professed myself a member of this thing we do that the stigma of alcoholism may hurt my efforts to live a changed lifestyle. and that if i spoke of bein a member, i may harm it; he told me if i was to relapse and go back to doin my dirt, people may take the impression that this thing we do doesnt work. its never my intention to promote recovery, or any program therein. however, it is my hope that i offer an attraction to a new lifestyle by livin the change recovery has to offer. showin another how ive used what ive learned about myself through practicin the 12 spiritual principles to help me become spiritually aware it is my hope to show another how ive been able to get rid of many of my fears, resentments, inferiority complexes, negative points of view, self-centeredness, criticism of others, over-sensitiveness, inner conflicts, the habits of procrastination, wastin money, boredom, false perfectionism, jealousy, and envy of others. today, i get to enjoy the bright promise and meanin of sobriety. 1 day @ a time...
