Located in Galax, Virginia, New River Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is an outpatient provider of opioid addiction treatment for adults age 18 and older. We offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which is a form of treatment that combines the use of prescription medication with counseling. Years of research has shown that MAT is highly effective, and respected agencies like the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the National Institute on Drug Abuse recommend it as an optimal form of treatment for opioid addiction. The types of medication different methadone clinics can prescribe will vary, but at New River CTC, we offer prescriptions for buprenorphine, methadone, Suboxone, and naltrexone. The specific medication a person is prescribed depends on their needs, but all have proved to reduce the cravings and uncomfortable symptoms associated with opioid withdrawal. We also offer individual and group therapy, which gives patients time to process their experiences, identify potential triggers, and learn coping skills to prevent relapse. The support and encouragement they receive during these sessions can also greatly benefit them on their recovery journeys.
