the strength of my recovery is only as strong as the time and effort i put into it each day. when i am strong in my recovery, the program of recovery reaps the benefits of my efforts. i have to put into my recovery more an effort than the effort i did toward my active alcoholism while out doin my dirt. some may not agree, and thats ok. but for me, if i want to remain recovered, i must continue to practice each spiritual principle, as i understand today, my alcoholism only lay in the shadows, waitin fer me to fuck up. ive seen many durin my time of recovery not make it because they let up on the things that were keepin their recovery alive within. not only have i witnessed this with my own eyes, ive heard many more storys. its why i believe my recovery is only as strong as what i put into it each day. cause when i do the shit necessary for me to remain sober and in recovery, the program itself remains strong and an avenue of survival for another. some days i may not be as strong as the day before, and that is why i must put effort forward on the days i am strong. not to say i can rest on my laurels for too long, just to mention that i can pull from the deposits ive made for times when i need them for my emotional, psychological, behavioral, and spiritual health. my survival, this programs survival, and possibly the survival of another may need what i have some day, for me, itself, or them, to persevere. recovery has taught me i have to venture forth, and it doesnt have to be pretty when it happens. bumblin and stumblin is fine as long as im leavin the familiar behind and pushin forward. i may stub my toe or bump into things, but its better than remainin still and stayin in my safe places. the better i get at bein comfortable with the unknown, the more successful i shall become. so, its important for me to remain vulnerable in my program of recovery. from those learnin times, i get to be one of many who keep this thing we do movin forward. i get to remain a demonstration of what the grace of God can do. 1 day @ a time...
