Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a type of treatment that has proved to be successful in treating opioid addiction. At Wausau Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), located in Wausau, Wisconsin, we offer MAT for individuals age 18 and older who are struggling with addictions to heroin, morphine, and other opioids. MAT combines counseling with the use of prescription medication, which gives patients a more comprehensive treatment experience. Many methadone clinics are only able to offer one type of medication, but at Wausau CTC, we can provide prescriptions for buprenorphine, Suboxone, methadone, and naltrexone. The specific medication a person receives is selected based on the results of a thorough assessment given at the time of admission. In addition to the medication, patients can participate in individual and group therapy sessions, where they can learn about the behavioral and psychological aspects of addiction while also receiving support and encouragement that can help them thrive in their recovery.
