Google Maps isn’t just for directions anymore it can now locate recovery tools near you too.

With one in 16 Americans struggling with addiction, accessible recovery is more important now than ever. Google wants to help, and it has released two new features to do just that.

The Recovery Locator Tool will pull up the location of nearby Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and SmartRecovery meetings. To use it, all you need to do is visit the website and enter your address. The Naloxone Recovery Tool operates similarly when you put in your address, nearby pharmacies that offer Naloxone (an antidote drug for opioid overdoses) will appear.

The new features come as part of Google’s efforts for National Recovery Month. Google will also provide resources on correct language usage, safe disposal of drugs and community recovery preparations.  These resources demonstrate how seriously Google takes its recovery efforts.

“The #RecoveryMovement celebrates the 23 million Americans recovering from addiction, and paves the way for the 20 million still struggling to seek treatment,” says Google.

  1. This is nuts. As if Google doesn’t have enough information about us all anyway?? I think people should avoid the site, IMHO. Privacy is important.
