this is somethin i was taught early on. my sponsor engrained in me that when all else failed, work with another alcoholic would always save the day. i didnt believe him at 1st, i thought, how could workin with someone else, doin stuff fer them, help me? i was so wrapped up in self i didnt want to or feel like i needed to help another. as it turns out, it was exactly what i needed, my sponsor was right! today i understand, not only is my happiness contingent upon the maintenance of my spiritual program, but also on my ability to help another without thought of receivin anythin in return. i get to accept any happiness i experience as a gift of doin the best i can with what i comprehend from the literature of recovery. just as i may understand why i get to experience happiness, i also understand it comes from doin right. ive grown a responsibility toward self to be of service toward those around me. especially those seekin recovery from their alcoholism. 1 day @ a time...
