when i 1st came into the rooms i was skeerd ta death to let anybody know what brought me to the rooms or how i came to em. i didnt want anyone knowin anythin about me; i was still sufferin from trust issues. and i carried that fear fer a long time. as i sat in the rooms and listened to others who had long term quality recovery share some of their dirt doin, lightin up their dark past, i was shocked at the level of honesty they had. and it wasnt like it was 1 up my war story, or glorification of what they had done in the past. it was the pure honesty of their experience. they showed how workin the steps of recovery had had an influence in their lives; the humility, honesty, and integrity with which they shared their personal awareness became a learnin lesson fer me. today havin lived these spiritual principles in my life as best as i can, i too am willin to share, and tell of some of the dirt i had done back in the day. there are things i wont share in a meetin but will share with a sponsee or trusted friend in recovery. those old timers helped to avert death and misery fer me. today its my turn to light the dark past, possibly showin em the key to life and happiness, and offerin the same, as was done fer me, fer others new to this thing we do. 1 day @ a time...
