the legacies of the recovery ive been gifted with are, recovery, unity, and service. they have been handed down to me by those whove came into the rooms before me. with recovery i get to heal my mind. i get to find how i can live with mental obsessions and use what recovery teaches me to mend my mind and thinkin processes. unity offers me a fellowship of others who are just like me to help guide me and let me know i am not alone in my sufferins. and finally, service; what service does is allows me to get into action by practicin what recovery and unity have helped me with. it helps me get out of self and practice the behavioral and spiritual aspects that need discipline. ive been helped extrinsically by those around me in the fellowship so i can rehabilitate and repair the damage ive done intrinsically. ive learned how to use knowledge to face the world as it really is. i get to reach out, when its appropriate, and offer another the elemental character ive discovered in hopes that they can use my background, my valuable experience with it, and the spiritual tools i use to overcome self and my alcoholism, so they too can live with the freedom i get to. with service i get to shed peace, not discord, as best as i can, wherever i go. i get to try to be part of the solution for alcoholism, not a part of the problem. my identity involves my disease and the freedom this thing we do teaches is lived through me when i am in fit spiritual condition. with an understandin that i dont have all the answers but am part of a community that is affected by alcoholism, i am a person who can be of service to others. its how i live the change recovery has to offer. when i share my e.s.h. with another, together we get to grow spiritually overcomin the fatal disease of alcoholism. together we achieve more than we ever could remainin singular. our alcoholism is defeated by our common bond to find a common solution. 1 day @ a time...
