last night i went to a meetin which is held on the last friday evenin of every month where the recoverin community meet and have a big dinner. then there is a speaker. after the speaker everyone who had an anniversary durin the month gets a token. they start at 1 month through 1 year, then give the yearly tokens away. each member who receives a token gets to go up to the podium and give a short tell of how theyve gotten what theyve got. ive gone to this meetin every month since movin to pensacola. it is an amazin meetin. the forgiveness, the hope, and the love, is felt throughout the room. its an event. last night the eldest token was 35yrs. the longest time token ive seen given away was 55yrs. each person has told how they never couldve imagined the freedom and grace theyve been given, from the newcomer to the old timer. each continues to mine the product of recovery, and each gets to continue to receive the gift of recovery as they give what theyve received away. its truly a beautiful meetin. each person provides me with the hope that i can continue to get what they have if i continue to live, love, and practice the spiritual principles in my life daily. what a gift to me to get to attend such a meetin filled with freedom, forgiveness, hope, and love. each person gets to receive a brand of humility that involves respect, with dignity, and genuine interest from every person in the room. they get to gently, but assertively, speak their recovery. they get to experience the freedom in their personal spiritual experience in the few words which are their truths. they get to share how theyve been built anew. they get to share what their recovery already knows, that its never too late to be what they might have been. and i get to hear it as i live it, as they and i give back. they share their faith enough to believe without seeing and are content with the results of faith. 1 day @ a time...
