before i had even come to step 11 my sponsor had suggested that i read pages 85 & 86 and try to make the practice of mornin and evenin prayer & meditation a staple in my daily life. well, ya’ll know how those suggestions go and what they really mean. bein as smooth a talker as my sponsor was, i came to understand that these suggestions needed to become requirements in my recovery. so, i started doin these things in my early recovery, and around 4 to 5 months in, they became somethin i did every morn and eve. i still do these simple, ehem, suggestions, to this very day. ive read in the big book and heard in the rooms, its to my best interest to maintain my spiritual condition. today, havin had a spiritual awakenin as a result of takin the 12 steps, i get to continue my spiritual awareness & spiritual experience based upon my willingness to maintain a daily reprieve through the maintenance of my spiritual condition. i get to stay recovered because i do shit that maintains my recovery. the actions mentioned in this morins daily are just some of the behaviors i choose to do so i may persevere through my day, whether my day is good or, selfishly perceived as, bad. this thing we do, recovery, the program of alcoholics anonymous, is a program for livin the change i hope to happen in my life. i aint gotta allow the world, or the beast within me hold me back from my spiritual destiny. i get to, with mornin and evenin prayer & meditation, rise and walk upright, no matter the storm outside of me. when i step out of self, away from me and welcome brotherly love into my heart and others into my life, i get to feel the love that brings me closer to my HP. and its been my experience that love is what makes the ride worthwhile. today insanely trivial excuses dont keep me from takin the time to do these simple daily actions. they are essential. they are musts. 1 day @ a time...
