today i understand the idea of mindin my own business. it doesnt mean i can always do that, but recovery has certainly curtailed my big fat mouth. this tradition has helped me remember that mindin my own, allowin others to live as they may, frees me from issues i just dont need to be involved in. just as recovery sticks to its objective of remainin a place for others to find a way to free themselves from the bonds of their alcoholic problems, not every other issue they may have, its been my experience that when i stick to maintainin my life, without interferin in anothers issues, i remain focused toward a life that provides me independence. recovery has taught me that i have a lot to work with just maintainin my own person. i dont need to be involved in everythin thats goin on. unless directly involved, i truly have nothin to offer unless asked. and even then, its best i take a metered approach. the ability to live and let live has taught me how to surrender, accept, and tolerate the happenins which go on around me. when i have trouble allowin another to do as they may, it usually means there are insecurities within me i must take a look at. sometimes ive got to look at painful past experiences in order to prevent their recurrence. when i understand myself better, i can move beyond the past and walk toward the future with surer, safer steps. thats what my personal moral inventory taught me. when im aware of my insecurities, ive an upper hand on lettin anothers happenins become my business. mindin my own, livin and lettin live, are the learned lessons of waitin patiently, and individualism can grow into healthy perspectives for future beneficial emotional, psychological, behavioral, and spiritual health. friendship has a new meaning for me today. it does mean i cant care, it just means i focus on joel, and try to care less about anothers personal business. 1 day @ a time...
