passin on a smile, a handshake, a hug, a kind word, or action, does not cost me a thing. even when i am feelin like hell inside, these simple outgoin behaviors help to change my emotion within. it is even sweeter when they are reciprocated. as i have gotten older in life and grown in my recovery, i have been able to see, experience, understand, and appreciate the value of life, it is so short and fleetin. these simple behaviors are actions that give love to others from me. whether they accept it as such is up to them, i know my reasons. this gift has been given to me to use. when i am responsible and disciplined in my recovery, i get to give it away by sprinklin it wherever and whenever i can. when i came into the rooms i was shown and given unconditional love. those who had come before me offered their time and effort to help me gain recovery and they were happy to do it too. it was somethin i really wasnt used to. in the past there had always been a fee, what ev it may have been, there was a cost. the people in the rooms didnt ask for anythin. they came to me and offered me what they had to give. those early lessons taught me how i had to live the recovery and life changes i was workin toward gainin. today, i offer the same to those who walk into the rooms, cold, shaken, and bitter, as i once was. i ask for nothin in return as the gift of freedom from my alcoholism is what i receive when i give my experience, hope, and love. givin of myself is a freein experience. 1 day @ a time…
