tryin to story tell or ad-lib any parts of my experience does no good for the person i am speakin with or for myself. i MUST be honest about the events that took away the most cherished parts of my life. when i can passionately relay my experience, strength, and hope, i open the door for honesty and integrity to be fostered by both the other person and me. expressin how the freedom of spirituality is a part of my story today, i can pass along the hope that they too can capture the great gift of this thing we do. the first spiritual principle i learned in my recovery was honesty. for me, it is the most important spiritual principle in the 12 steps. without it i cannot begin to surrender, learn to start acceptin, or understand the fatal futility of my alcoholism. when sharin my experience, strength, and hope with another, i must be honest in my story, as nobody knows it better than i; how can anything i say or do be of any help to another if honesty on my behalf is not shared? i have heard it said in the rooms and read it from the big book, that a program built upon a foundation of sand will not hold me in times of rough goin. honesty with others, especially with newcomers, allows me to carry to them the weight and depth of why i chose to follow this program of recovery. expressin my hope & the faith i have in my HP, and the relationship i have with Him, i get to offer hope to others who may know no other way out of their alcoholism. 1 day @ a time...
