my daily reflections…

i like how this mornins readin suggests that sobriety isnt the only thing i can strive for in recovery; that livin life once again as a productive member of society is part of recovery. its what i wanted for so long while i was wrapped deep in my alcoholism. a chance to live again w/out the constraints of my alcoholism. breakin free of the chains that once bound me and havin found this new way of life i have been able to live once again. this thing we do has given me freedom once again. today i am able to suit up & show up. today i am a productive member of society. i must admit sobriety was my main goal when i 1st came into this thing we do. i thought if i could just quit drinkin everything in my life would get better. quitin drinkin, thats it, nothin more was needed. as i sat around the big round table in the halfway house i was in, people who had gotten sober long before i ever came into the rooms, would tell me there was more to this thing than just quitin drinkin. i could feel the sense of urgency stirrin within tellin me that followin sobriety, there was goin to be more action that needed to be done on my behalf. after all i still felt miserable on the inside, there had to be more, i couldnt take the terror, bewilderment, frustration, or despair any longer. recovery, ongoin, practiced every day, was what i found out to be the plan of action which would keep me from drinkin again. pickin up the spiritual principles of the program i trudged forth beyond mere sobriety, i had to, i desperately needed change. i could feel inside sobriety wasnt enough, there was more to it than sobriety alone. today, havin learned the spiritual principles; i continue to mold and shape my future. i continue to help keep this simple program of recovery goin for others, as the ones who came before me did for me. 1 day @ a time…
