UNM Seeking Participants in Early Recovery for a Research Study
|
We, researchers at the University of New Mexico Center on Alcohol, Substance use, And Addictions (CASAA), are conducting a daily diary study of social connections and recovery. Daily diary studies ask participants to answer questions about their daily experiences each day. In our study, participants answer questions about their social interactions, recovery experiences, and feelings. Prior research suggests that social relationships are critical in the recovery process. That’s why we are reaching out to In The Rooms members to evaluate social interactions at the daily level. The importance of social connection and relationships was highlighted during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic: we want to keep up the momentum on this line of research. Your participation as a person in early recovery will help us to better understand how different kinds of social interactions influence recovery. |
|
What Participation in the Study InvolvesParticipation in our study involves a meeting with our study team for a brief Zoom appointment, a one-time 60-minute online survey, and a brief daily-diary survey to be completed each evening for 90-days. Survey questions include items related to substance use, social wellbeing, and your thoughts and feelings. Those who complete all elements of the study receive $330 in gift cards for their time. Participation is limited to adult residents of the U.S. |

I just started recovery after trying to stop drinking all on my own for YEARS, and it never stuck. So I decided it was time to begin to join AA and other recovery sources.I would love the opportunity to join your Early Recovery Research Study. I am 60 years old and started drinking when I was 13, off and on.
Kind Regards,
Trish Oleary
I’m 50 and I have been an addict my entire adult life and I’m currently clean and proud of my recovery I would like to do your study as well
I want to try the research study
I am still recovering from my addiction
It took me 15 years to finally find what works for me, and community is one of them. I’ve been sober only a few months but I feel I would be able to greatly contribute to this study.
Sincerely,
Michelle C
I’m 45 years old and started drinking at 21. I stopped drinking at 22 when I got my first DUI. After Covid I began drinking again due to family health issue and it has been very hard for me to stop. I’m 2 months sober thanks to AA meetings
I have been in AA and sober for 12 years-not likely to ever drink again.I would love to be part of this but don’t want to really rehash that again-not even knowing if I can remember it all.
I will have six months Alcohol Free on July 3. I am interested in the possibility of participating in your study.
