when i first came into the rooms, all i wanted was to stop drinkin. i thought if i could just put the jug down, everythin else would work itself out. my sponsor helped me see that sobriety and recovery are not the same thing. sobriety is just removin the drink; recovery is learnin how to live a new way of life. he told me that justice in recovery meant doin what was right for my sobriety, not just what i wanted. that meant followin the steps, bein honest, makin amends, and showin up even when i didnt feel like it. sobriety gave me a chance to pause the chaos, but recovery gave me transformation. today, i get to try to practice recovery evwryday. justice reminds me i cant just take from this program; i have to give myself to it. and when i do, i dont just stay sober; i get to live a life of purpose, peace, and growth. 1 day @ a time...
