i understand today, AA isnt a cure-all. i reckon, when i 1st became a member of the program, i was hopin it would be like santa claus, but it wasnt. i found out i had to do the work to achieve the presents. im grateful fer the ability to have had the willingness to have been able to do the work. it has shown me a way toward humility, integrity, and dignity, somethin i was lackin fer a long time. i have been granted an intelligence to experience how God can do fer me what i cant do fer myself, but i had better be willin to accept what He can. i have learned this thing we do isnt a doctor, it isnt a psychologist, or religious clergy, it is a way fer those seekin recovery from alcoholism, a way from the disease of addiction. my sponsor told me early on he wasnt a bank, a taxi, or a marriage counselor, he said he was an alcoholic who found a way out of his disease and was willin to show me how he did. he said it may work fer me too if i allowed it to. there is other work on my behalf that needs to be done if i want other issues to stop. doctors fer physical health, psychologists fer mental help, and clergy fer religious help, all these other issues can be helped by practicin the spiritual principles of this thing we do. the program and the fellowship are fer my alcoholism. today, i am grateful fer this God given gift, as it has helped me in each of the areas i mentioned. usin all the tools available to me i can progress to a happy, joyous, and free life. 1 day @ a time…
