its been my experience, when i allow self-pity to become a player in my behavior and emotions, i act out and speak out to others, passively aggressively seekin their attention and sympathy. this only emboldens any self-pity i may be feelin, drivin me further away from any spirituality, and deeper into self-centeredness. recovery has taught me it is ok to feel my humanness and recognize when im allowin self-pity to affect me negatively. today my goal is to be one of many, not separate myself from others. ive learned there is a difference in empathy from others and a realistic love, or sympathy. its ok to receive a healthy sense of compassion. i aint gotta use it to get some sick kind of wealth or approval. 1 day @ a time...
