in my experience, any action that facilitates connection with another alcoholic constitutes a form of service. this can take various forms, such as makin a phone call, meetin in a coffee shop, engagin with them on their terms, visitin them in a hospital, or conductin meetins in jails and institutions. regardless of the settin, whether it involves intensive 12-step work or simply attendin a casual gatherin to foster relationships centered on recovery, service is a fundamental aspect of my own recovery journey. even the most straightforward tasks, such as listenin, organizin meetins, preparin coffee at a halfway house, cleanin ashtrays, or greetin attendees at the door, have been integral to my learnin and practice in recovery. each of these activities has offered me opportunities for humility, allowin me to focus on the comfort and well-bein of others rather than myself, which i recognize as service. through all these experiences, i strive to remain honest, open-minded, and willin.
