when i first approached step eight, i relied on the moral inventory i had compiled durin step four. at that time, the individuals on that list represented the most pressin amends; those most directly connected to the pain and dysfunction that had contributed to the depth of my spiritual illness. today, i am able to create such lists when necessary and address them with the care they deserve. i continue to seek the counsel of my sponsor, valuin his insight and experience. the need for thoroughness remains as essential now as it was durin my initial journey through the steps. while the process has become more familiar over the years, i must remain vigilant in honestly examinin my role in any past or current harms, especially as my alcoholism has grown more subtle and insidious. through the lessons recovery has taught me, and with the guidance of my HP, sponsor, and the tools of the program, i can ensure that any list i create is approached with humility, responsibility, and a sincere commitment to spiritual growth. 1 day @ a time…
