havin gained sense of willingness up to this point in my recovery, i now get to use it to continue to grow within my personal program of recovery. in usin willingness i must bring with me the prior steps spiritual principles of honesty, hope, faith, courage, and integrity. these prior principles allow me to open up to a new world around me so i may experience what my HP and recovery have to offer. ive heard it said in the rooms of recovery, "this is the step that separates the men from the boys.” i need to use willingness to overcome and live with the shit ive learned about myself that i may find undesirable or desirable. in the practice of the prior steps i have an opportunity to apply willingness. as i repeatedly aim to try, step 6 offers me yet, another growth opportunity within. and doesnt the idea that growin old is inevitable, growin up is optional, but growin spiritually is up to me, ring true to the sentence above about separatin the men from the boys. step 6 provides this opportunity. it is a freedom to use true humility acceptin all ive learned about myself with a willingness to use the principles to help me grow and evolve toward what the promises throughout the big book say. it is a chance to grow away from inner conflict so i may grow away from conflict with others. i can learn to accept the limitations that help keep my life simple and accept the limitations of others. i get to live the change recovery makes possible. i get to let the success stories i hear in this program inspire me to let others be so I remain free. i get to discover how much better i feel when im not on the battlefield with my friends and loved ones. my self-esteem heals and i trust myself. i understand that though limited in my knowledge, i know more than i think through the wisdom ive gained. willingness lets me be humble enough to love God and all people as i continually thank God for all His blessins. 1 day @ a time...
