today i am able to be a friend among friends, a family member among family, and an employee among fellow employees. i get to be an active participant in society and the communities around me. my alcoholism before my recovery had driven me into loneliness. i couldnt be a part of anythin because my thinkin had driven me into seclusion. yes, the alcoholism i had let develop within me affected every relationship i ever had. recovery taught me to love myself so i could learn to like myself. it showed me through personal moral inventory the areas i needed to work on and how to go about workin on those articles of self-impeachment. it taught me how to bring my greatest character defects and shortcomins to light so they could no longer hold so much power over me. with my sponsors help i was finally ready to rid myself of the guilt and remorse that was holdin me back from realizin a better version of life. i learned however intelligent i may have thought i was, where alcohol had been involved, i had been strangely insane. with this great release, newfound knowledge, and the wisdom i had gained while out doin my dirt, i learned how to forgive myself. it was a step toward lovin myself. i became humble enough to allow my ego to not exclude myself from myself. as i grew in self-acceptance, i learned to accept other people as they are. as time has its miraculous healin properties, i began to be myself, among others. i learned not to try to know what others thought of me. i began to include others in my life so i could be included in theirs. today ive learned how to form true partnerships with others. it has taken self-honesty, personal moral inventory, letting loose control, and willingness to be able to form healthy relationships, includin the one i have with my HP and myself. true partnerships allow for the capacity to love whether i like the other or not. 1 day @ a time...
